Dukart Basement Development
This was the second project for the Dukart’s. The children finally leaving the nest, motivated the basement development. Originally there was a collection of small rooms with a very dark wall paneling, very 60’s décor. Once we established the wish list, it was settled Darlene wanted a small kitchen to accommodate the cooking and baking for the family holidays get together as well as canning the garden harvest. Bill’s needs were more simple, he told me “ All I need is room for my easy chair and big screen TV. I suggested that they go with a fireplace; it would give them that coziness as well as provide some space heating, since most home furnaces of that era usually did not provided a comfortable environment for the basement.
Kitchen – created a small kitchen to accommodate extra cooking and baking during holidays as well as canning space during harvest season.
Recreation Room & Fireplace – turned a poorly heated basement into a warm, comfortable space with seating and room for a big screen TV.
