Nord Alta Construction's Edmonton Exterior Renovation Project Portfolio

These are just of few of the siding and deck renovation jobs we have done in the Edmonton area. For more information on the siding and deck construction process, visit our Exteriors page.

Hot Tubs and Stubbed Toes

The customer’s dream was to use the under-utilized hot tub in the back yard. Before, there was no deck of any kind and the entry/exit to the hot tub was risky business. More than one stubbed toe and scraped shin occurred. We set out building a traditional one level deck with the provisions for built in seating, chaise and lounging areas, and an unobstructed view to the ravine in the back yard.

Tea for Two Deck & Patio Door

The customer’s dream was to sit on their front deck in the early evening, shortly before retiring for the night. They wanted to enjoy the long summer days while leisurely reading or discussing the events of the day.

This renovation was made to the master bedroom, and could possibly pose a risk to the homeowner’s privacy. To eliminate this risk we chose to use Pella windows and doors. Their exclusive between-the-glass shading options allowed us to make this a very private setting, while giving the homeowner immediate access to the outdoors.

To view their windows and door, visit our Windows & Doors Portfolio page.

Huge Deck For Entertaining

The customer’s wish was to replace the old rotting spruce deck with a multi-level deck. The decking runs perpendicular from one deck to the next to provide visual interest. Both deck areas are a large size, and either deck could fit lounging and chaise furniture comfortably.

Siding Exteriors

This home was built in the mid 1960’s with a new exterior redone about 20 years ago. When the siding was redone, the home was insulated with a rigid insulation to help minimize heat loss as well as update the exterior. The problem that arose was that even with the new exterior, their home looked exactly like every other home on the street. Once again, it was outdated. In this home it was extensively remodeled with new windows throughout as well as an addition. Our task was to update the exterior with a new more modern look. This included stripping the existing exterior to the wall sheathing, and we added a higher R value insulation. The product we used is called Poly-Iso which is unique in that it allows moisture vapor to pass through the product, protecting the wall cavity from build up of moisture from condensation. The importance of minimizing moisture within the wall cavity is paramount if one wants to avoid wood rot, and growth of mould and mildew.

The owner expressed the amazing difference in sound levels being reduced dramatically once the new windows and insulation were installed. After that, we added metal cladding around the perimeter of the windows as well as new vinyl siding.
