Essentially there are three types of windows available today.

What you get with a wood window is the natural beauty of wood, different species of wood are available and wood lends itself to some intricate milling that vinyl or fibreglass does not. If your decorating budget says stained wood, then this is the product for you. Most wood windows in this marketplace usually come metal clad on the exterior for a good color selection and a maintenance free exterior.
After all is said and done, any of the above products are more than acceptable for either new home construction or replacement. What is the installation process?
The installation of the window or door is as important as the manufacture of the product. No matter how good a product is, if it is not installed correctly, its performance will be compromised. When installing a new window product in a home, special attention should be taken to make sure the product is level and plumb as well as maintaining the integrity of the building envelope. While it is important to ensure that the window or door has good insulating properties, it is also important that it does not let the elements enter the home.
