Edmonton Window and Door Renovations

In the world today, there are many options a homeowner can choose from when selecting windows and doors for their home. Energy efficiency is only one aspect that should be considered when making this decision.

What are the different kinds of windows to chose from and how do they differ in price and performance?

There are several different types of windows made from Vinyl, Fiberglass, and Wood metal clad. Vinyl is a good place to start, and vinyl can modernize an older building fairly inexpensively. Fiberglass is a far more durable product than vinyl and would be on par with life expectancy of wood metal clad. Where wood metal clad really shines is in the millwork detailing, life expectancy and other features that only wood can provide. At Nord Alta we primarily use wood metal clad windows by Pella simply because they are the best and our customer’s deserve the best.

Pella windows are available to meet a variety of budgets, provide superior quality and have excellent warranties. For more information on Pella windows, please visit our Pella Windows and Doors page.

What is the installation process?

The installation of the window or door is as important as the manufacture of the product. No matter how good a product is, if it is not installed correctly, its performance will be compromised. When installing a new window product in a home, special attention should be taken to make sure the product is level and plumb as well as maintaining the integrity of the building envelope. While it is important to ensure that the window or door has good insulating properties, it is also important that it does not let the elements enter the home. At Nord Alta, not only is each window installed properly, but great care is taken to make sure that the building envelope is intact so that it can do its job of shedding water away from the inside of the home.
