Products We Think You’ll Like
It’s not often that Robert and I get wow-ed by new products in the renovation market. Usually, a new drywall compound or an updated tile pattern isn’t too exciting, but we had a chance to check out a new spin on a hand rail system for decks at the Rona home show a couple of months back. This hand rail system, made by Regal Ideas, features a strip of LED lighting that fits just under the handrail and provides plenty of light for a summer evening out on your deck.
The rail itself is not an overly difficult product to install, if you know what you’re doing. The rail itself is made of aluminum and, off the shelf, it’s easily found, available in white and black. The LED lights are a really feature. They are controlled via a small remote and they have a couple of different intensity and color settings. With a quick button push, your white lighting is suddenly blue or gold. The whole system itself, including the glass panels, comes in standard sizing.
In addition to checking out the product, we installed the railing for a client ( as well as a new exterior for their home) and it turned out to be a beautiful addition to their front deck. The glass panels, unlike other traditional wood hand railing systems, allow for people to have a full view of the home, which means the beautiful stonework on the new renovation is visible from the street.
